Long Staff Grading

Recently we had a group of students participate in a grading test on one of the GIANT weapon systems of Long Staff.

Congratulations to everyone who passed their new ranks! Special mention to Bill Wannous on achieving his Level 6 Purple Chevron rank.

Check out the highlight video of the grading which demonstrates the many skills the students learnt, especially in sparring distance. This weapon is a range changer and is quite different to the use of the shorter weapons. The earliest form of "Long Staff" a.k.a Jang Bong (Korean), Bo (Japanese) or Bang (Chinese) has been used throughout Asia since the beginning of recorded history.

To this day almost every household will have access to a broom stick, mop or shovel. Learn to turn these everyday items into a weapon of self defence.

In addition to Long Staff concepts the student learnt the "Lamb Baton Method" which has been employed by police and military trainers all over the world. This is what weapons coach Ray Floro has to say about this system:

"Developed by Arthur Lamb in 1969. I consider it one of the best baton systems. He breaks it up into 7 "Phases" and the use of fakes is to me GENIUS!"
