If you practice Hapkido or Kickboxing, then you are eligible to grade up to your current rank in the GIANT Freestyle Taekwondo program.
The difference between traditional TKD and Freestyle TKD is that FTKD focus is primarily on combat and sparring, no board breaking or patterns are required to progress through the curriculum. This style will greatly improve your kicking techniques, distance and timing. It is good to know how to throw a kick, but know when to throw it and make it land.
Remember to wear your GIANT Taekwondo uniform and current HKD belt or Kickboxing rank, you can purchase one at our shop. If sparring you will need full sparring gear including shin guards, groin guard, mouthguard and headgear. Gloves not required as the sparring is solely focussed on kicking skills. Please register and have the fee handed in prior to the grading day. Late registration will apply on the day!
Get ready for the GIANT Taekwondo Grading test as follows:

Please know that passing is not a guarantee. If you are unsuccessful at the Grading, take it as a chance to improve and come back harder next time.
Do not be late or you cannot grade!!!
Photo and video is allowed on the day.
If you have any questions about the Grading process, please do not hesitate to contact us on 9502 2626.
The Taekwondo Grading schedule for the year is as follows:
Term 1 – March
Term 2 – June
Term 3 – September
Term 4 – December
If for any valid reason you cannot make the scheduled grading day, a make-up grading is allowed on the following Friday. However Make-up Gradings require Instructor approval in advance.
If you do not feel ready or have been on holidays or sick this term, you can always ask the instructor for a Private Lesson to help you catch up. We also highly recommend registering to the GIANT Online which is curriculum on demand and will have all your techniques in order with description and video for you to learn online to help you to keep up.
Good luck and see you on the mat!
